Today is April 18 and we arrived today at 3pm to the port in Funchal, Madeira Island.

After an amazing talk by our amazing on board Gastronomic Gues - Juliet Davey “Mama Cacao"

She is a “bean to bar” chocolate maker, recognized cacao educator and social entrepreneur who blends fine flavor with storytelling, artistry, culture and sustainability. Can wait for her chocolate making demonstration and more talks later in the cruise. And she is selling some of her very small batch chocolate bars in the gift shop.

Today we did a bus/walking tour of the island of Madeira Island which belongs to Portugal. It’s a beautiful place. See some pictures on Instagram. Meeting some wonderful and amazing people here on board (and it’s only Day 2). More to come…after an additional ½ day in Madeira we depart tomorrow afternoon to Lisbon, Portugal. It will take us a day at sea to arrive in Lisbon. And tomorrow after we set sail, I’ll be doing a Q/A with Michael, our Cruise Director, on board the ship.
